From information provider to academic partner.
Between 2010 and 2016, Bond University Library strengthened its role as a hub for innovation, learning, and connection. Through redesigned learning spaces, expanded professional expertise, emerging digital services, and deeper engagement with the University community, the Library became an increasingly active contributor to student success and academic life.

Great Book Swap event, held in support of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
2014
In support of the University’s commitment to expanding Indigenous engagement and participation, Library Services adopted the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) as its charity, launching the Great Book Swap in collaboration with the Nyombil Indigenous Support Centre. Held in the quadrangle, proceeds were donated to the ILF.

Officially opened by the Vice Chancellor Professor Tim Brailsford (second from right) on 6 October 2015, the new silent study space on Level 4 of the Arch Building was developed in collaboration with BUSA, providing seating for an additional 70 students.

Bond University Bookshop on level 2 of the John and Alison Kearney Library.

In February 2015 Bond University Bookshop was relocated to level 2 of the John and Alison Kearney Library. The image shows the shop’s interior, including books, stationery, university merchandise, and a service counter. The shop replaced the audiovisual room, while the DVD collection was relocated nearby.

The Print Shop opened on level 2 of the John and Alison Kearney Library.

Key moments
"Breaking new ground in using multiple technologies and making innovative space for teaching, learning and research, the $3.4 million student facility incorporates a laptop bar, study booths, digital art displays and collaborative learning rooms with state-of-the-art equipment.
The Centre also incorporates a multimedia gallery showcasing the work of Film, Multimedia and Games Design students and its foyer is graced by two prestigious sculptures by Australia’s pre-eminent sculptor the late Robert Klippel – also granted to Bond by the Balnaves Foundation." -- Balnaves Foundation Multimedia Learning Centre officially opens (2010).
This facility was originally staffed by Library and IT Service Desk teams. It now operates unstaffed, and open 24 hours, and is managed by the Library.
In 2012, Information Services separated into Library Services and IT Services, with the Library reporting to the Office of the Registrar.
"Despite the organisational separation of Library and Information Technology Services in September 2012, the two units have continued to jointly offer the integrated Library and Computing Service Desk as a one-stop-shop. This ITS and Library partnership offers a service that is much appreciated and highly praised in the recent Library Customer Survey which gave a 93% satisfaction rating for staff.
During 2013, a closer organisational alliance between Library Services and the Office of Research Services has evolved resulting in improved links between the Library and the University’s research community." -- University Librarian's Report to the Library Advisory Committee, December 2013.
"The Library is preparing a new site structure which will put library support for scholarship at the top-most levels of the site. The structure and design is based on evidence from analytics on the current library pages, feedback from users via the customer satisfaction survey and a survey of university students. We are also using benchmarking and reseach (sic) undertaken by academic libraries into best practice for websites and digital library services."-- BULB : Bond University Library Bulletin, 2014, September.
Online bookings and events
Self-service study room bookings and events registration system was launched in 2013, growing from a need to streamline registration processes based on emailed requests. The event calendar and room bookings were embedded in the library website, and in a Library tab within the learning management system.

Core library systems
Alma, the new library management system, and Primo, the discovery platform branded as Library Search, were launched on 28 April 2015.
At a time of significant growth in online subscriptions for information resources, this unified the management of both physical and online resources and was the first deployment of software-as-a-service at the University.
"This was an opportunity for the Library to completely review and re-engineer its business processes as well as the borrowing policies for our customers. Almost all of the library staff have had their day-to-day work activities changed with the new system implementation." -- BULB : Bond University Library Bulletin, May 2015.
Primo delivered a streamlined search and request platform that incorporated both locally managed resources and online articles not already held by the Library.​
Subsequently, the Library moved its document delivery and interlibrary lending processes into Alma in 2016.
Kay Saunders, historian and anthropologist, was engaged to write a history of the University for its 25th anniversary. Collaborating with Antoinette Cass, Manager, Scholarly Publishing and Copyright, they produced a full-colour, illustrated history of Bond University.

Wendy Abbott, University Librarian
Following the restructuring of Information Services, Wendy Abbott was appointed University Librarian in 2013, with a number of managers comprising the Library leadership team.
Peta Hopkins, Manager, Digital Library Services
Commenced as Head of Cataloguing in 1999, then held the position of Information Systems Librarian before moving to the University's Project Management Office as a project manager of strategic IT projects. In 2013, returned to the Library in this management role as part of the organisational restructure.
Michele Le Claire, Manager, Library Academic Services
Commencing in 2008, held the position of Coordinator Liaison Services and Liaison Librarian, before the management role was established in 2012.

Michael Wallace, Manager, Law Library
Commencing in 2005, held positions as a Liaison Librarian, and Law Librarian, before the management role was established in 2012.​

Ian Edwards, Manager, Law Library
"Ian Edwards commenced as Manager of the Law Library. Ian has a wealth of professional experience in law librarianship and a strong interest in technological innovations to enhance service delivery.
